Our founder Rhys George suffered his first serious knee injury at 15 years old. He battled on through injuries, iterations of knee supports and an operation at 19 until his competitive sport playing days ended after just 5 years. Later in life when trying to get his aching middle aged body moving again, the market offering hadn't developed in over 20 years and along with his original co-founders decided there needed to be something better. Inspired by their own suffering and of those around them along with the the lack of character in the sterile marketplace the Bearhug community was born.

Rhys - Founder & CEO
Every great brand starts with someone who refuses to sit still, and Rhys is exactly that person. His relationship with knee injuries began at just 15 years old - and over the next five years he battled through setbacks, countless iterations of knee supports, and an operation at 19 before his competitive playing days came to an end.
Years later, when he tried to get his aching middle-aged body moving again, he found the market hadn't moved an inch in over two decades. So, naturally, he decided to do something about it. Together with his original co-founders - all inspired by their own suffering and the suffering of people around them - Rhys set out to build something better, warmer, and full of the character that the sterile marketplace was sorely missing.
And so the Bearhug community was born. These days he's the restless energy behind everything we do - dreaming up bold ideas, taking on challenges that most people would politely decline, and making sure the whole ship stays on course. If there's a new mountain to climb (sometimes literally), Rhys is already halfway up it.

Jenny is Chief of Staff at Bearhug and has been part of the journey since day one 10 years ago. Working across the business, she plays a central role in supporting its growth, with a particular focus on building and nurturing partner relationships and bringing the brand to life at events.
Often described as the heartbeat of Bearhug, Jenny keeps the engine running quietly in the background so everyone else can do their best work. Part organiser, part problem-solver, and a calm presence in the chaos, she ensures the team is supported, partners are looked after, and nothing ever falls through the cracks - usually finding it before anyone else even realises it’s missing.
